After much speculation and researh, we've decided that if we ever to outcross to another color it would be Castor. Castor and Red are genetically the same thing, except one has the exntension(wide band) and more intense rufus factor. Breeding in tort will result in Reds with shadings on the ears,nose, and paws. You can still outcross to Tort, but I wouldn't recommend it. Fawn is the dilute of Red, but it won't intensify the color , and could possibly ruin the color in your current herd of reds.
Plus, Castor is one the most developed variety in Mini Rex, they have some of the best type and correct coloring. We may try to find a REW that is genetically
