So, Carmen was upset about the whole chocolate mini rex debacle so she didn't come. Tareah just wasn't up to it so she didn't go. This left me to wing the show by myself, I ended up carpooling with Lyanne and Jessica so it was a happy ending.
I showed 2 junior RED Mini Rex, Red Jasper & Ruby. I wasn't even going to show Ruby but I had to replace her with her sister, Sapphire, because Sapphire didn't make weight. Red Jasper got some good comments, the only fault was color, narrow and the hip, and did I mention is DQ for a white spot the size of a dust speckle!!!!!!!! ooooooh grinds my gears. His mom has the same white spot too from getting bit. He was the only buck out of the reds, and would have placed 1st out of the whole variety if it wasn't for that DQ. Ruby and her radar ears got some good comments as well, One of the judges said they both had some promising fur for REDS.
I showed Carmens broken chocolate buck. He lost in his class becuase of his fur condition, then he got DQd in the second show for a missing testicle, just my luck. I also show my broken tort doe, was told she had an ugly head and ear, but gorgeous fur, and balance.
Rusty, my junior tort buck I got from Misty got BOSV(he was the only buck in the variety though) and a BOV against Lyanne's gorgeous torts. It was a fun show and I got some insightful comments.
Now, to things that have been bothering me at the Rabbitry. The red Juniors I just mentioned above are giving me a hard time about their weight and their eating. None of them go over 2 lbs 5 oz which is a spectacular thing at 4 months. I like my mini rex "mini" but not that mini. I'll try some things people told me, they should get better now that it has cooled down. I observed them during feeding one day. I notcied that their water bottle is never empty..........everybody else's bottles are always empty. Turns out, they only drink the water after we freshly fill it up for some strange reason. They also dig half of their food out of the feeder. Time to come up with some alternatives.
Convention is 2 weeks away, cannot wait for our new arrivals. I mentioned we are getting a Broken Red doe from Two River's Rabbitry. We are also getting a REW to help with the fur on our reds. Can't wait until March so I can show all the lovely juniors we will have.
